Meridian Security Systems LTD ("Meridian Security", "we", "our", "us") respect the privacy rights of its in-store and online visitors/customers ("you", "your", "yours") and recognise the importance of protecting the information collected about them. Meridian Security is committed to protecting and respecting any personal information you share with us. What information do we collect?

We only collect information that is necessary, relevant and adequate for the purpose you are providing it for.

When collecting your data, we will always make clear to you which data is necessary in connection with a particular service. 

Personal data you share with us

We may ask for personal data when you order from us; this includes when you order from the website or in-store, or when you sign up to our mailing list.

The information we collect includes but is not limited to;

• Payment card details, (Meridian Security do not store payment card details, we use a third party to process credit card payments).

Personal data we collect about you

We will collect your information when you use Meridian Security’s websites, applications, social media and our customer care centre. Some of this data does not identify you personally but provides us with information about how you use our services and engage with us in order to improve our services and make them more useful to you. Products Installed by Meridian Security may collect system and event information relating to their setup, configuration and operation. 

The information we collect includes but is not limited to;

• The date and time you used our services

• The pages you visited on our website and how long you visited us for

• The products you viewed or added to your basket

• Your IP address

• Your location (where you have permitted access to this)

• The Internet browser and devices you are using

• Cookie or pixel information (for more information please see our Cookie Policy)

• Any information within correspondence you send to us

• Where you engage with us in a business context, we may collect your job title, company contact details (including email addresses), and company details (some of which we may obtain from an online or public business directory)

• When Equipment has been installed, Equipment data, data regarding building spaces, energy usage data, fault data, event data, environmental data, and other internal or external data as well as product usage information and product performance data. In some circumstances, this information may be Personal Data. In the case of video or security products, the information may also include video and audio signals and data. The nature and extent of the information collected by our products will vary based on the type and function of the product and the type of services for which they are used, subject to applicable laws.

• When you use our store or office facilities which usually have CCTV systems operating for the security of customers, employees and visitors. These systems may record your image during your visit. These images are stored for no longer than 10 days.

How and why do we use this information?

Meridian Security will only process information that is necessary for the purpose for which it has been collected. You will always have the option not to receive marketing communications from us (and you can withdraw your consent or object at any time). We will never send you unsolicited 'junk' email or communication, or share your personal information with anyone else who might.

What you’ve bought instore or online and what you’ve stored in your basket for another time

Information about your phone or laptop, and how you use our website and app

Information you give us when you browse our website if you choose to share it with us, including your IP address and device type and, your location data, as well as how you use our website.

 Your responses to surveys, competitions and promotions

 System and event information relating to products installed by Meridian Security

 You don’t have to give us any of this personal information but if you don’t, you may not be able to buy from the site, and you are unlikely

How do we share this information?

We do not sell your information to third parties. However, we may from time to time disclose your information to the following categories of companies or organisations to which we pass the responsibility to handle services on our behalf, we provide only the information needed to perform their specific services. 

Service providers who help us to operate our website, fulfil your orders and deliver our products to you, including;

• Suppliers and sub-contractors for the fulfilment of orders.

We take steps to ensure that any third-party partners who handle your information comply with data protection legislation and protect your information just as we do. We only disclose personal information that is necessary for them to provide the service that they are undertaking on our behalf. We will aim to anonymise your information or use aggregated none specific data sets wherever possible.

These third- party companies will also use your personal data for a variety of reasons; if you ever wish to have your data removed please contact help@meridian-security.co.uk and we will ensure that the data is removed permanently where possible in line with the latest GDPR requirements.

How do we protect your data? 

Access to your personal data is password-protected, and sensitive data is secured by SSL encryption. Where we have given you (or where you have chosen) a password which enables you to access certain parts of our site, you are responsible for keeping this password confidential. We ask you not to share a password with anyone.

We secure access to all transactional areas of our websites using ‘https’ technology, Unfortunately, the transmission of information via the internet is not completely secure. Although we will do our best to protect your personal data, we cannot guarantee the security of your data transmitted to our site; any transmission is at your own risk. Once we have received your information, we will use strict procedures and security features to try to prevent unauthorised access.

The data that we collect from you may be transferred to, and stored at, a destination outside the European Economic Area (“EEA”). It may also be processed by staff operating outside the EEA who work for us or for one of our suppliers. How long do we keep your information for?

We will not hold your personal information in an identifiable format for any longer than is necessary. How can you manage the information we hold about you?

You have the right as an individual to access any personal information we hold about you and make corrections if necessary. You also have the right to withdraw any consent you have previously given us and, in certain circumstances, ask us to erase information we hold about you. You can also object to us using your personal information (where we rely on our business interests to process and use your personal information).

• Erase your information (or restrict the use of it), provided we do not have any lawful reason to continue to use and process that information
